Pick Your Own: Blackberries

It’s surprisingly difficult to explain to a one-year-old berry-lover that: you’re not allowed to eat the berries immediately after picking them—you have to pay for them first; it’s not possible to hold ALL of the berries in your hands; and you mustn’t squish them, sit on them, or throw them on the ground—they have to go in the basket.

But once we got past the “rules” (and a bit of screaming) we had a lovely time. We even stopped for a little picnic in the field.

Then we made a crumble with our harvest… Obviously, it tasted even better having picked the berries ourselves.
